Louisville-based photography for brands, places, and the quiet drama of work.
I’m Robert Stallard, a photographer based in Louisville, Kentucky.
Aethos is where I’m building a body of work: photographs of people, places, and the lived texture of how things get made—images that feel real, not generic. Some of it is commissioned. Some of it is simply the kind of looking I want to do more of. All of it is an attempt to stay close to what matters: atmosphere, attention, and proof of life.
What I’m drawn to
I work at the edge between branding and documentary, the kind of photography that helps a small business look the way it actually feels when you’re there.
That might be:
- a quiet portrait in a back room before opening
- hands and tools, repetition and craft
- worn light on a bar top, a kitchen line, a workshop floor
- the ordinary details that, together, become a story
I’m interested in clarity—but not polish for its own sake. The goal is to make images you can use, and still recognize yourself in.
What this space will become
Over time, this site will hold:
- selective client work
- short photo essays from Louisville (and elsewhere)
- notes on process, how a shoot comes together, and how editing decisions get made
